Protocol
Remember to select the correct protocol from the drop-down in both Silver Snap-Tool and the Pre-Check Viewer based on engine
- J1939 (round 9-pin)
Example: Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, … - J1979 OBDII (rectangular 16-pin)
Example: Ford, Chevy, Volvo, Mack, …
Disconnect Telematics
Remember to plug directly into the OEM OBD port and disconnect telematics.
Connection error messages are often due to interference from devices which may be located behind the dash (ELD, GPS, …)
